About the Childcare Lawyer role:

We are looking for a Childcare Lawyer to join the growing Legal team at North Northamptonshire Council to provide advice and representation to the Council in all areas of childcare law.

As a Childcare Lawyer, you will be supported at a senior level and by colleagues in a growing and developing team of professionals. The team's focus is on enabling service delivery, adopting a partnering model with their clients, supporting them to deliver an ambitious agenda for North Northampton.

Key responsibilities of the Childcare Lawyer role:
The role will involve delivering comprehensive professional legal advice to the unitary council and client department. You will manage a portfolio of your own cases which will consist of, but not limited to:
- Provide general and specialist childcare advice on behalf of the Council to clients, colleagues and elected members and senior officers.
- Manage a caseload in relation to the full range child protection cases, including attendance at court and undertaking advocacy where required.
- Advising on policy, strategy and procedures relating to childcare issues.
- You will have a brilliant opportunity to develop your specialism with the support of like-minded people and an experienced team around you.
Ideal requirements for the Childcare Lawyer role include:
We are looking for candidates with previous public sector childcare case handling and advocacy experience and exceptional relationship building, networking, and influencing skills.
You will need to be a qualified Solicitor, barrister or FCILEx to apply but we are open minded to speaking with candidates of all childcare law backgrounds from the public sector to private practice.
